What could potentially be an unhealthy or dysfunctional relationship?
Few of the signs I could share:
You feel that undying feeling of unhappiness when you are with them, but you can’t a finger on why
You feel your emotional needs aren’t met.
You don’t spend quality time with each other.
You find yourself complaining about them to others but not to them.
You feel obliged to keep them happy no matter what.
You notice a change in your self-esteem after this relationship.
You wonder why it’s so hard to put boundaries with them.
You can’t tell them honestly how you feel- no heart-to-heart conversations.
You feel disrespected and undermined.
You feel intimidated almost all the time.
You don’t feel free to talk to others in front of them.
You are scared to upset them; hence start walking on eggshells to keep yourself safe.
You often end up apologizing regardless.
You don’t know what you really want as you are busy taking care of others’ desires.
You never turn to one another for emotional support.
You feel stonewalled if you confront them.
You often avoid coming home early as you feel more relaxed away from them.
You feel trapped in your relationship.
You change your behavior, repress your true self to keep peace at home.
You feel your viewpoint is often brushed over or not taken into account.
You often feel unheard, mocked at, invalidated in this relationship.
You sometimes/often feel unsafe around them.
And there could be more…
Relationships are hard work, but if two people are willing to work on it- it turns out wonders.
Trust your instincts- don’t rely on others to tell you how you should feel.
As you unravel it, you would know what your next steps are.
It’s your choice- You can either choose to accept it and stop complaining or change it.
Choose what feels best for you, and there’s no right or wrong!
